Lisa Mazzocco served as the Chief Investment Officer (CIO) of the University of Southern California from 2011 to 2020 where she managed a $5.9 billion endowment and $120 million closed defined benefit plan. She was also the Chair of USC’s Retirement Oversight Committee responsible for managing the employees’ $7 billion defined contribution plan. She built and managed a 12-person investment team. She was responsible for establishing and presenting an annual asset allocation policy, monitoring asset allocation and rebalancing as required, developing investment strategies for individual asset classes, approving hiring and termination of all investment managers, and working closely and presenting regularly to the investment and finance committees of the Board of Trustees.
She previously worked at the Los Angeles County Employees Retirement Association (LACERA) from 1992 to 2011 where in 2005 she was promoted to CIO having the oversight of the investments of the largest county retirement system in the US, reaching net assets of $38 billion by the time she stepped down. During her tenure at LACERA she directed a 25-person investment team.
Lisa also worked at Security Pacific National Bank as a senior analyst and Wilshire Associates Inc as an associate.
She is currently a director of The Westaim Corporation and advisory committee member of Los Angeles Capital Management and Women in Institutional Investment Management (WIIIN). Previously she served as a trustee of Causeway Capital and a director of Pacific Pension Institute.Lisa received a Bachelor of Sciences in Business Administration and Finance from San Diego State University and a Masters of Business Administration from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona.
